Lead Teacher: Samantha Dorsch
Samantha Dorsch is our lead teacher at Under the Trees Forest Preschool. She was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and this is where she and her husband are raising their family now.
Throughout high school and college, Samantha volunteered at a summer camp, starting in the kitchen and working her way up to program director for the last year she was there. Through this, Samantha has experience in non-academic outdoor and adventure education including hiking, spelunking, camping, and high and low ropes courses.
Samantha went to Multnomah University for her degree in elementary education with a specialization in early childhood education. She also got a degree in biblical studies at the same time. She has 7 years of experience teaching in Oregon Public schools, grades 1 through 4. She has also worked in daycare with infants, preschoolers, and elementary schoolers. Through this, Samantha has experience teaching, assessing, and meeting learning guidelines for a diverse group of students. This year, Samantha will be combining those skills with the Oregon Department of Education Early Learning Standards to develop our specialized curriculum at Under the Trees Forest Preschool.
Samantha has one daughter, Amelia, who is two years old. Amelia is excited to join the other children at school and learn as one of our Under the Trees Forest Preschool students!
Teacher: Cassidy Rogers
My name is Cassidy Rogers, and I am so excited to begin teaching at Under the Trees Forest Preschool! I was born and raised in Texas, where I am a certified K-6 teacher (with ESL certification). I finished my education at the University of Texas in Arlington before moving to Oregon with my husband a little over three years ago. We have since had two amazing children, and we are so excited to share the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with them.
I bring nearly 10 years of teaching experience, about five of which have been with public schools. I have also worked for many years in daycare settings with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children. I love teaching all ages — but there is definitely something special about preschool! This is the age of discovery and play, and we live in such a rich environment to do both.
My son, Stover, will be attending the "Caregiver and Me" program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and he is so excited to learn and make new friends! I can't wait to meet and get to know all of you and your children.
Teacher: Tammy Stanhope
Tammy Stanhope is one of our co-teachers at Under The Trees Forest Preschool. After being born and raised in the Gresham/Troutdale area, she left and spent several years in Idaho and Montana. She and her husband and daughter have moved back to the area to be near family.
Tammy brings many years of experience working with children of all ages. She is a seasoned mother of 3, as her 2 oldest children are now out of the house and building lives of their own. Tammy studied Elementary Education at Northwest Nazarene University and graduated in 1995, earning her BA.
During her college days Tammy was able to travel throughout the Pacific NW, promoting her alma mater and working as a camp counselor at youth camps in Idaho, Montana and Oregon. She has experience working with children K-12 in the traditional school setting as a mental health associate. She was trained in de-escalation techniques, and led group counseling sessions and some individual sessions as well for kids with varied needs. Other experience includes years of working in daycare, volunteering in her church nursery, and many years of working as a substitute teacher in the public school setting for grades K-12.
Tammy raised her two oldest kids with a love of nature and outdoor activities, and they have a deep love for these things as adults. She continues to instill these values and this same love in her youngest daughter. Tammy loves to camp, hike, kayak, swim in lakes, and has a deep connection to the natural environment. To her, the best smell in the whole world is pine trees!
Tammy has a three year old daughter still at home, Serafina, who is super-excited to be a student at Under The Trees Forest Preschool this year! She can’t wait to meet new friends and learn new things!
